Steel Plate, LLC….a successful, highly experienced plate cutting and processing company, is seeking a Production Planning Coordinator, responsible for coordinating company shipping activities across various trucking carriers and multiple plant locations. Effectively coordinate with internal sales and production teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery to meet customer deadlines.

Position Responsibilities:

• Proactively communicate with production team to assess order completion status and expected shipping dates.
• Load plan in-house truck fleet with JB Hunt program manager.
• Coordinate pre-load orders with shipping supervisor to achieve on-time shipping goals.
• Solicit quotes for LTL and common carriers using FreightView online system or direct phone calls
• Select carriers and schedule shipments during prescribed shipping windows.
• Aggregate orders to optimize freight efficiency and reduce cost. Eliminate empty backhaul routes when possible.
• Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed and delivered to internal staff as well as external customers for tracking and billing purposes, including but not limited to shipping labels, BOL, MTR, CVN/UT testing, customer specific document requests, etc.
• Communicate with sales team in the event of shipping delays/errors.
• Resolve delayed or lost shipments with trucking companies ASAP.
• Approve trucking invoices.
• Maintain tracking schedule in Excel and scan documents into system as required.
• Coordinate with shipping port personnel to transport incoming inventory to warehouses or production plants to minimize storage fees.

• Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn company product codes and terminology.
• Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.
• Good analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments relative to inventory.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• 5+ years in logistics or Production Coordinator role
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills including MSExcel, MSWord, and online applications
• Ability to take initiative and problem solve without direct supervision
• Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.
• Good analytical skills and ability to make sound judgment
