Specifications: ASTM A 572-50
Workability: A572-50 is a high strength low alloy steel plate used in a variety of structural applications.
Specifications: ASTM A 709-50
Workability: ASTM A709-50W is a standard specification for structural steel in bridges. ASTM A709-50W covers high strength, low allow steel structural shapes, plates and bars. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of this steel in most environments is substantially better than carbon steel with or without copper addition. ASTM A709-50W shall have an atmospheric corrosion index of 6.00 or higher.
Specifications: ASTM A588
Workability: ASTM A588 is a high strength low-alloy structural steel specification with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance for structural steel shapes such as angles, channel and beams, as well as steel plate and bars. The A588 specification is intended primarily for use in welded bridges and other structures where savings in weight or added durability is important along with the longer life cycle due to its corrosion resistant properties.
Specifications: ASTM A516-70
Workability: ASTM A516-70 plate is a medium carbon alloy designed for use in pressure vessels and boilers. It contains manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and silicon at the highest levels allowed by the ASTM, to produce the strongest carbon steel plates specified by the ASTM. It is a high strength metal, is easy to fabricate and can be securely welded. A516-70 plate also has good corrosion resistance.
Workability: 1045 steel is characterized by good weldability, good machinability, and high strength and impact properties in either the normalized or hot rolled condition. The steel machines readily and is ideal for shafts, axles, sprockets and other machine parts requiring better strength than 1020 mild steel.
Workability: A514 is used where a weldable, machinable, very high strength steel is required to save weight or meet ultimate strength requirements.
